We are happy to announce that on May 1, 2010, Melvin's Meat, Fish & Fowl LLC was sold to Sages Old Fashioned
Butcher Shop. This will be the 2nd location for Sages. Sages will continue to operate the former Melvin's store
in Channahon and will be open seven days a week. Store hours will not change. And Sages will continue to operate
their retail store in Morris. Two great locations to serve you!!!
Kathy Ruth and Tom McGrath are very proud
to have been able to build a very nice business in Channahon for the last year. Kathy's vision for Melvin's was to make
it the best butcher shop in the area. It was long hours and a lot of hard work, but we got it done.
Upon taking ownership last May, customers immediately noticed the improvements in the quality of everything in the store.
From the fully stocked meat counters, to the stuffed chicken breasts, to the hanger steaks, to the fresh seafood on weekends.
To the decorating, to the cleanliness, to the weekly email blasts. Fresh Ho-Ka turkeys, special orders, nice selection
of seasonings, etc.
You continued to come back and shop at Melvin's week after week. This was the best indication
that you liked what we did with Melvin's, and we are very thankful and appreciative of your business.
Sometimes
with success, comes an opportunity to move on. Because of Melvin's success, we were able to find another butcher
shop with similar goals and ideas. After visiting our store they became interested in acquiring Melvin's. The
sale has been completed, and the reins have been turned over to Sages Old Fashioned Butcher Shop. We are confident that
you will be very happy with Sages and hope that you will continue to shop at Sages.
